about

Elder Sister Plum presents her first full-length studio album, 'People Like Us'. Composed of all original songs written over the past seven years, Tanya Semple considers this record to be her musical autobiography. You will hear wistful melancholy ballads followed by groovy toe-tapping tunes, moving into somber and hair-raising stories of sailors lost at sea.

Starting out as solo acoustic folk songs, her music began to take on a life of its own as she explored new instruments in the studio, collaborating with long time friend and musical companion, The Sun Harmonic (Kaleb Hikele).

The two Canadian musicians worked together on the performance and creation of an album that ranges in sound and emotion. Plum was thrilled to have Gary Simkins come by the studio to add some sweetness to four of the songs with his cello, bringing even richer textures to the folky craft.

Recorded in the spring of 2013 at The Townhouse Recording Facility & Sound Studio in Toronto, 'People Like Us' will enchant and excite listeners, being both a relatable and escapist experience. Elder Sister Plum would like to thank you for listening to her stories.
